Does swimming regularly in a chlorinated pool cause hair loss?

I use a swimming cap but the water still seeps in. What about the shampoo? Swimming regularly also means applying shampoo to the hair regularly. Could these both be a cause for hair loss?Does swimming regularly in a chlorinated pool cause hair loss?
Rashed K:

No! %26amp; I should know. I am completely bald! (LOL)

Truth be told, if you want an idea whether or not you are going to be bald, get a photograph of your Mother's Father. Yes, that's right! Your Maternal Grandfather somehow gives you the gene that determines Hairiness -or- baldness! My Maternal Grandfather was bald, bald, bald! %26amp; now, I am too!

Chlorine doesn't have anything to do with hair loss. Although, if you don't take care of your hair, you can significantly contribute to your hair loss. I served as a U.S. Air Force Security Policeman for eight (8) years. Wearing that black wool beret all day long probably contributed to my hair loss. The wool doesn't allow for much ';breathing'; or air exchange. But, I did shampoo everyday %26amp; when swimming, I always showered %26amp; washed my hair immediately after swim practice.

I hope that this information helps you, %26amp; I hope that your Maternal Grandfather has lots of hair!

Aloha %26amp; keep swimming!

It used to cause my blonde hair to turn greenish!
no shampoo makes your hair but if u go swimming all that

colouring gets in ur hair and breaks out
Have a chat to your hairdresser/barber next time you are there. I am not sure about hairloss but chlorine is very bad for your hair and can completely ruin it. A hairdresser will always be able to tell if you swim a lot just be looking at your hair. They put so much chorline in the pools - it's not good.

I don't know about hair loss, but swimming regularly in a chlorinated pool does make your hair color become more faint. Also, some swimming stores sell special swimming shampoo, which is supposed to help make your hair more healthy so you could try that.
No, you won't lose your hair. The chlorine can turn it green if you have a light hair color (blondes beware), but that's easily prevented by washing your hair after you swim. The chlorine makes your hair really dry and stiff (it takes out the natural oils in your hair) which makes it tangle very easily so use a conditioner. They have shampoo and conditioner specifically made for swimmers which works really well.
OMG. same problem. i swim for at least an hour every day. it doesn't cause hair loss but it does damage your hair. The tips of your hair will dry out and become lighter(mine got so bad,my friends actually thought i got highlights). As for shampoo i use Aussie tip mender +root cleanser or TresSeme. it moisturizes your hair.
Hitting your head at each end causes the hair loss not the chlorine.
no but can change colour of ur hair!i aint jokin!
