Do hair products cause hair loss?

I heard that there is a product in hair gels, creams, and mousses that stunts hair growth and causes hair loss at a later age. I have been spiking my hair up for some time now, and now I want to grow it out. If the product I have been usuing contains a chemical or ingredient that stunts hair growth or will make my hair fall out, I'd like to know.

So, is there an ingredient in hair gels, creams and mousses that stunts hair growth and causes hair loss, and if so, what is it called?

By the way, I'm only 15, if that affects the side-effects of whatever product this is.Do hair products cause hair loss?
eventually over time and depending on how you treat your hair/ what type of products you use...yes!Do hair products cause hair loss?
some of theme some of theme not
I don't recommend using gel try some hair wax they shouldn't cause hair loss unless you purposely create spikes with them

My dad had been suffering from hair loss and only recently he started to see a huge difference with his hair (lots of fine hair growing out especially at the temple area) after trying out the various natural techniques taught to grow hair for 1 week at this website http://www.regrowmyhair.info

I must say its a very informative, effective and easy to follow step-by-step guide. I highly recommend it to anyone who is suffering from hair loss.

Hope it helps ! =)

It's true that some products do cause the hair to be stunted but that will show up immediately (as in couple months), not later in life. Most of these are the oils and waxes that many people use (conditioners). These block the hair follicles, and the hair then has a harder time to get out of the skin. There is not much that can actually stop hair growth, but it can hamper it.

For best growth, you want clean hair and scalp. Avoid anything with a lot of oils in it, or waxes. These will leave a thin film on the hair, which makes it slick and smooth and shiny, but is not great for the skin. Some people will get pimples from using it, or itchy scalp. By using a good clarifying shampoo (baking soda works well) and avoiding using the product is the best solution. Some gels and mousses will do the same, but usually are easier to remove. Try not to put these right on the scalp a lot.

At 15, you are going to see some loss of hair in the next several years. That is just a normal process of going through puberty. There may be some visible thinness if you are male, not so much for females. There is nothing you can do about it at this point.
