I'm taking a weekly dose of methotrexate for Crohn's disease, and I think I'm starting to slowly lose my hair. Am I freaking myself out, or is this a real symptom? How bad can it get??Does methotrexate cause hair loss?
It is not listed as a side effect, although it is different for different people. More than the meds, likely it is due to malnutrition from the Crohn's itself. Try using a supplement like Boost if it is ok with your doc to replace some of the nutrients that are lost with having the condition. I have lost my hair more than once during particularly bad bouts with Crohn's, but it always grows back. Good luck! Hope you feel better. Does methotrexate cause hair loss?
This is the start and if you are not considering any thing for this, you may be bald in no time. Ask your doctor whether methotrexate is the only option or is there any thing. Normally these drugs has some effects and they stop after you finish the medicines. So wait until the time and act accordingly.
