Will sertraline definately cause hair loss?

I'm 16. I take sertraline everyday, and I have been for about 2 years, for obsessive compulsory disorder.

I heard that taking sertraline causes hair loss. Well I really don't want to loose my hair, and I'm getting really worried it will cause me to have hair loss.

Is it for definite that I will have hair loss?

Please help

ThanksWill sertraline definately cause hair loss?
According to http://www.drugs.com/cdi/sertraline.html

';If OVERDOSE is suspected:

... Symptoms may include coma; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; hair loss; hallucinations; seizures; severe or persistent diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, or vomiting; tremor';

That's the only mention of hair loss on the whole page is in the overdose, so as long as you don't overdose, you should be fine. Good luck and I hope I helped! Will sertraline definately cause hair loss?
You Should contact your peds doctor or family physician and see if there's another drug he can give you. What side effects may I notice from receiving this medicine?

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:

allergic reactions like skin rash, itching or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue

black or bloody stools, blood in the urine or vomit

fast, irregular ..Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome): change in appetite

change in sex drive or performance

diarrhea

increased sweating

indigestion, nausea

tremors

This list may not describe all possible side effects. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
I took Sertraline for 4 years, and a friend of mine has taken it for 6 years. Neither of us experienced any hair loss. I suspect you would have experienced hair loss by now if you were going to. TBH I've not heard of it as being a side effect of sertraline.
I haven't come across this, and several people I know have used SSRIs. The BNF (British National Formulary) doesn't list hair loss as a side effect of sertraline, but if it's concerning you I suggest asking your doctor.
