I roll my hair at night with the hard rollers and sleep in them. Now I an noticing more shedding then normal.Does sleeping in hard rollers cause hair loss?
innocent, One of my golfing buddies recently had an issue with hair loss. After several types of herbal, over the counter remedies, and who knows what from the internet, he finally decided to visit a hair loss clinic. Initially he was scared to go becasue he was scared it would cost too much, but he learned a lot from the consultations. After 6 months he is finally starting to regrow some hair. Sorry I don't know more about his treatment, but maybe you could call a local clinic. http://www.hairlossandtreatment.comDoes sleeping in hard rollers cause hair loss?
The type of hair loss you describe is called ';traction alopecia';. It occurs when constant stress is applied to the hair shaft. This causes shearing and other forces which can damage the underlying structural components that produce hair.
Particularly in those persons susceptible to pattern hair loss, traction alopecia can accelerate the problem --- sometimes in remarkably rapid fashion. As a general rule, scalp hair should be treated with reasonable gentleness and care. This means limiting the amount of pulling, chemical application and other such insults.
A better course of action may be to use a low-heat curling iron along with a gentle hair spray or other such styling product.

Probably, because your moving around in your sleep and your tugging on your hair. Like having a pony tail, it's pulling your hair, so thats not good. Plus the heat vauses damage.
I wouldn't sleep in them no more.
Seems really uncomfortable anyway.
They might be pulling your hair out as you toss and turn in the night, but they don't *do* anything to your hair, if that's what you mean.
a little bit yes
