Wearing a beanie or cap for many hours a day for many years probably will not cause hair loss. This is an old wivestale that has been around for a long time. Many men wear hats to cover their balding, so the association of balding and hats has been clearly recognized for centuries. It is a classic chicken and egg problem: which came first?
However, wearing something TIGHTLY around your head, CAN result in traction alopecia. Many Sikhs have hair loss from the turbins they use throughout the adult life. Even 13 year olds who have been wearing turbins with complete traction alopecia and no side or frontal hair left. These tight turbins can produce hair loss in a relatively short period of time.Does hat wearing cause hair loss?
it's true. my best friend's brother was noticing hair loss so he started wearing caps continuously. The more he wore his hats, the more hair loss he had because he didn't give his hair ';any room to breathe'; and all the sweat had no place to go. so he ended up with a bunch of bald spots so he just shaved his head and now he is bald.
Yes it causes thinning of the hair and eventually leads to baldness. The scalp has to breath and the hat cuts of the o2 supply. Plus a hat rubs on the head and causes sweating. YUK!
Wearing hats can contribute to hair loss. If you wear a hat your head and hair no longer get oxygen. No oxygen it stops growing and then eventually starts falling out. So people who have lost their hair by wearing hats then wear hats to cover up the hair loss.
people wear hats to cover up their baldness.
nope,
hair loss is genetic
people wear hats after they lose their hair.
if your grandfathers are bald, and you are male,
you will lose your hair, its inherited.

No, that's a myth. Balding men wear hats. *wink*
I was in the forces for many years and obviously wore headwear for much of my time.
I have a full head of hair at 42. We had a chat one night whilst I was in the forces about this subject.
Those who had lost hair had a father who had lost his hair fairly young.
Those of us with plenty had a father who also still had plenty of hair.
As many people will tell you, it is genetics at work.
Yes .. because the hair can breathe no more ... ;)
I've heard it does and then I've heard it doesn't. I dunno, but I can't find my eyebrow now. Dang it.
i dont have scientific proof, but i do know someone who wore a hat practically everyday of his life and hes now all bald only on the top of his head, as well as my dad who wears a construction hat and has the same prob.
hope i helped you a bit =)
no
No way. But wearing a hat IS a good way to CONCEAL hair loss!
It's both really. From what I learned in science, hair follicles that are blocked from air die at the roots, resulting into hair loss. And as a result of this, people will wear hats to cover up their baldness.
