Do straighteners cause hair loss?

Hi, I'm a 25 year old male and for the last couple of years I've noticed my hair at the crown is thinning by the day. Now I'm starting to lose it at the front as well. My hair is medium length and styled in a way that I have to straighten it. Could this be the reason for my hair loss? Nobody in my family has ever suffered from hair loss before. Any ideas?Do straighteners cause hair loss?
Have your hair chemically straightened ! :]

and buy rogaineDo straighteners cause hair loss?
It is possible but only certain circumstances. When me and my friend dyed our hair while straightening it a lot our hair began to fall out because it was so dead. Try using heat spray before you straighten, cutting back the number of times you use it per week, and see if the hair loss stops if not then i recommend going to a dermatologist to see your scalp.
Thats interesting. Maybe while straightening out your hairs you're pulling them out and not realizing it. You could also just be frying them off.

For now, the best i can suggest is to turn down your straighters heat level and try not to straighten as often., Also you could try some hair growth products around that area. goodluck!

I use the CHI, and I have for a long time now...straightening DOES weaken your hair, causing it to break off much more easily. It very well may be linked with the hair loss. It has thinned mine out in certain areas as well.

Too much heat= brittle hair

Brittle hair= less hair
heat styling only causes breakage and split ends soo idt its the staightener

sorry
