I don't think you'll go bald from it, if that's what you mean. However, it does cause hair loss for a couple of reasons:
1. Straightening damages your hair severely. Unless you're trimming it everyday, you're going to get split ends, which will split higher over time. This weakens your hair, and it will start snapping off and falling out. This isn't excessive, though, and if you're hair isn't that long, you won't even notice.
2. Your hair, from so much brushing and styling, will of course fall out a bit more. Plus, your hair sometimes probably gets caught in the creases of your straightener. Whenever this happens to me, I lose a few strands.
My advice? Don't worry about it, unless clumps of hair start falling out; that's not normal. But I've been straightening my hair for nine years, and it's still really, really thick, though I do get bad split ends. All that happens is your hair will lose some of its natural curl over time, which is what you're trying to get rid of anyway. The best thing you can do is get regular haircuts and use repairing shampoo (any kind of Dove shampoo).Hair straightening causes hair loss?
I have been straightening my hair for 15 years and I have tons and tons of hair. And for you being a guy since your hair is shorter, you are cutting it off pretty quickly. So with in 3-6 months its all totally new hair.
I have found some good tips in following link, It may be good for you too

Not only damage their hair, I've heard from other YAs that their hair stopped growing. If that was the case, cutting it off won't help it grow back.
My hair doesn't fall off %26amp; I use it everyday.
Use heat protectant first to prevent damage.
