I have two 10 year old cats They are sisters. One of them seems to be losing her hair on her rear end and on her lower sides. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might cause this? They both eat the same and go outside together.
Thanks for any information you can give me.What causes hair loss in cats?
it's quite common for cats to suffer hair loss when they have been in my garden.. I set the Jack Russell onto 'emWhat causes hair loss in cats?
Could be a rash or some other skin condition which is either causing direct hair loss, or which has caused the cat to over groom the area pulling the hair out. This is a question for a vet.
Stress can cause temporary fur loss. My cat sheds like crazy when he has to go to the vet.
Sounds like fleas/flea allergies. Call your vet and get a proper dx. There are many possibilities, but since it's near the rump, that's my first guess.
fleas most likey....and they are getting old so that could be another cause
obviously the cats itch themself when they have fleas. and since they are older they are not as heathly so they will start to lose their hair just like people do when they get older. just keep giving them frontline plus and keep them inside if you can....i have a cat that will beg and beg and beg to go out, but if your cats dont care that much, leave them indoors
