What Causes Hair Loss/Breakage

I am losing severe amounts of hair thru definite breakage, though it seems I am always thinning (possible hair loss) ... I see hundreds ... maybe even thousands of flyaways on my head, especially on my bang part and a receding hairline (fine baby hairs). I have been to 4 Dr's who tested for Thyroid, Hormones, Lupus, Syphillis etc ... only thing that came back irregular was a low Ferritin (iron) level. My iron is now rising, as I have been on Suppliments for 2 months but my hair is not stopping, I cannot even touch my hair without it coming out. My hair has NO split ends, I do not process it, blowdry, dye or use any product. I have very wonderful, soft shiny hair - yet it continues to fall out. No genetic background of thinning, and it is very ';un-pattered'; and my nails are also beaking. PLEASE HELP, they refuse to do anymore testing. What Causes Hair Loss/Breakage
Wow, that is a predicament. Did they check you for testosterone, LH, FSH? Ferritin is definitely a huge reason for hair loss and breakage. It can take time for the hair to stop falling out and new growth to begin. It can take up to six weeks for new hair to form in the folicle and then emerge from the scalp. Keep taking your iron as this will help. A supplement with biotin and B vitamins can help too. You can go to the health food store and check to see what kinds of supplements they have for hair. There are always products out there for people who have thinning hair or nail problems. They seem to go hand in hand. What Causes Hair Loss/Breakage
How is your diet? Poor diet can attribute to hair loss and thinning.

Continue with the Iron.

It may be time for your doctor to refer you to a skin specialist (Dermatologist). You may have a skin disorder that you are unaware of on your scalp. As well, you may want to test for allergies.
